Nordstrom Experience
Michelle recognized that some of her most invaluable lessons were cultivated during her tenure at Nordstrom. It was within this dynamic environment that Michelle's understanding of business, design, and the intricate interplay of personalities truly flourished. From navigating the intricacies of customer interactions to decoding the nuances of team dynamics, Michelle honed her skills in understanding people, egos, and the ever-evolving landscape of relationships. The fast-paced nature of the fashion industry exposed her to the art of adaptation and resilience, instilling a steadfast determination to thrive amidst change. Perhaps most significantly, it was within Nordstrom's bustling corridors that Michelle discovered profound insights into the complexities of human nature, shaping her perspective on professional and personal interactions.
Maritime Beginnings
Michelle's maritime journey commenced in the bustling naval hub of Seattle, where she honed her skills at Oviatt Marine as an executive assistant, immersing herself in the industry's intricacies from the ground up. From there, she charted a course for the prestigious brokerage firm Fraser Yachts, swiftly ascending to the esteemed client liaison role, where she forged lasting connections with discerning yacht enthusiasts around the globe
Return to Boat-Building
Fueled by her passion for boats and the boundless expanse of the open water, Michelle made a seamless transition back into the boat-building realm, joining Horizon Yachts as a dedicated client liaison. However, fate had grander plans, guiding her to the sun-kissed shores of San Diego, California. Here, amidst the vibrant coastal landscape, an exhilarating opportunity in yacht finance beckoned, presenting Michelle and Tim with the chance to embark on a new chapter of adventure together.
Sail San Diego
Their journey culminated in acquiring Sail San Diego, a small charter business with big dreams. They transformed Sail San Diego into the #1-rated charter company in San Diego through dedication, hard work, and a commitment to excellence. Their efforts were noticed, earning recognition as the #2 attraction in San Diego by TripAdvisor, second only to the iconic San Diego Zoo.
Tim's Voyage
With a background steeped in the rich yachting and sailing industry traditions, Michelle and her husband, Tim, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the helm.
Post-College Adventures
After college, Tim followed his heart to an island on New Jersey's southern shore, purchasing his first sailboat and eager to explore the ocean and the inner coastal waters. Yet, craving much more, he set his sights on the Caribbean, where he would spend the next 12 years immersed in the ocean. His journey led him to diverse roles, from capturing images below and above the water as an underwater photographer in St. John and Aruba to serving as a scuba instructor at the Little Cayman Beach Resort. After receiving his USCG Captain's License, Tim answered the call of the sea once more, serving as a sailboat captain for The Moorings, navigating the azure waters of the BVI and St. Martin with skill and passion.
Mediterranean and Caribbean
Continuing his maritime odyssey, Tim embarked on a journey aboard larger catamarans and fresh horizons, setting sail for the Mediterranean aboard a majestic 57-foot catamaran. For a year, he navigated the azure waters surrounding Corsica. After his adventures in the Mediterranean, Tim found himself in Fort Lauderdale, where he secured a new job aboard a majestic 100-foot sailboat, embarking on a journey that took him through the entire Caribbean. However, despite the allure of the open sea, Tim longed for the camaraderie of chartering with passengers. Seizing an opportunity, he joined a vessel in Saint Martin bound for the Mediterranean, where he worked alongside good friends, indulging in the thrill of chartering once more. Yet, disillusioned by the boat's owners, Tim returned to Southern California, turning his sights to boat brokerage in Marina del Rey and San Pedro.
Sail San Diego
With years of experience in LA, the allure of San Diego beckoned, and Tim and Michelle took a leap of faith, purchasing a small charter company named Sail San Diego, fueled by their shared passion for the ocean and the promise of a new beginning. They stay with it for 13 years building it up to
